Domain DNS and nameservers explained
How to point your domain to KapsuleHost, update nameservers, and manage DNS records.
Pointing your domain to KapsuleHost
If your domain is registered with us, nameservers are already set correctly.
If your domain is registered elsewhere (GoDaddy, Namecheap, etc.), you need to update nameservers at your registrar.
KapsuleHost nameservers
ns1.kapsulecloud.com
ns2.kapsulecloud.com
ns3.kapsuledns.com
ns4.kapsuledns.com
Change these in your registrar's control panel. DNS propagation typically takes 1-24 hours but often completes within 30 minutes.
Managing DNS records in KPanel
- Go to Domains → your domain → DNS Records
- Click Add record to create a new record
Common record types
| Type | Used for |
|---|---|
| A | Points a domain to an IP address |
| CNAME | Points one domain name to another |
| MX | Routes email to a mail server |
| TXT | Verifications, SPF, DMARC |
Example: adding a subdomain
To add app.yourdomain.com pointing to an external server:
- Type: A
- Name: app
- Value: 203.0.113.1 (your external server IP)
- TTL: 3600
Email records (SPF, DKIM, DMARC)
When you add a mailbox through Kapsule Email, we automatically add SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records. You don't need to configure these manually.
To verify your email records are correct, check the Deliverability section on your domain's page in KPanel.
Transferring a domain to KapsuleHost
- Unlock your domain at your current registrar
- Get the auth/EPP code from your current registrar
- Go to Domains → Transfer domain in KPanel
- Enter your domain and auth code
- Confirm the transfer email sent to your registrar contact address
