Billing & Plans
Your Billing Currency
Every Kapsule account is billed in one currency, chosen when you sign up, and that currency is fixed permanently once you have been charged for the first time.
This page explains which currencies exist, how yours was picked, when it can still be changed, and what happens if you need a different one.
The Eleven Currencies
| Code | Currency |
|---|---|
| NZD | New Zealand dollar |
| AUD | Australian dollar |
| USD | United States dollar |
| CAD | Canadian dollar |
| SGD | Singapore dollar |
| GBP | Pound sterling |
| EUR | Euro |
| CNY | Chinese yuan |
| JPY | Japanese yen |
| KRW | South Korean won |
| AED | United Arab Emirates dirham |
Prices are not a live currency conversion of a New Zealand figure. Each plan carries a real price in each currency, set deliberately, and that is the row you are charged from. This is why a plan may not be an exact exchange-rate multiple of another currency's price, and why your price does not move when exchange rates do.
Symbols are shown unambiguously so there is no doubt which dollar or which yen you are looking at: NZ$, A$, US$, CA$, S$, and a distinct symbol for Chinese yuan against Japanese yen.
Yen and Won Have No Decimal Places
Japanese yen and South Korean won are zero-decimal currencies. Amounts are whole units with no cents, so a price reads as a plain number rather than as a figure with two decimal places.
If you are scripting against your own invoices or reconciling with an accounting system, treat JPY and KRW amounts as whole units. Dividing by one hundred, as you would for a dollar currency, understates the amount by a factor of a hundred.
How Your Currency Was Chosen
Your currency is derived from the language and region you signed up under, not from a picker you were shown. A locale that maps to a known currency gets that currency. A locale with no mapping falls back to United States dollars.
This is why an account created while browsing in New Zealand English is billed in New Zealand dollars, and one created in German is billed in euros.
You can see yours on Settings, then Profile, in the Billing and Company card. The Currency field is displayed read-only with the note "Chosen once at signup and cannot be changed. Every invoice and subscription is billed in this currency."

When It Can Still Be Changed
The lock is tied to money changing hands, not to the moment you created the account.
Before your first charge, while you have no live subscription, your currency is still a preference and can be corrected. If you are still in this window, the panel's preference controls will let you set it.
After your first charge, it is permanent. Attempting to change it returns "Your billing currency locked at your first charge and cannot be changed", and other settings pages return "Your billing currency is set at signup and cannot be changed here. It is locked to your active billing. If you need a different currency, contact support."
Check your currency before you buy anything. Once a subscription exists there is no self-service way back, and a live subscription cannot be re-denominated at all. Getting it right takes a moment before checkout and is impossible afterwards.
If You Need a Different Currency
There is one path and it is not self-service.
Open a support ticket and explain what you need. A currency correction can only be made on an account with no live subscription, which in practice means the existing subscription has to be cancelled and the service re-created under the correct currency. Support will tell you honestly whether that is possible for your situation.
Cancelling and re-subscribing has real consequences: it ends your locked price, it may interrupt service, and any current period is subject to the ordinary refund rules. Weigh that against the inconvenience of paying in the wrong currency before asking for it.
Your Currency Decides Your Tax
This trips people up, so it is worth stating plainly: your currency is exactly what decides whether you pay GST.
GST is decided by your account currency. An NZD account currency means 15 percent GST is added; every other currency means none. See GST and Tax Invoices for the detail and for how your account currency is set.
Your billing address plays no part in it. You can change your billing address, or pay with a card issued anywhere, and the GST on your charges will not move. So if a tax line surprises you, check your account currency, because there is nothing else to check.
Your Price Is Locked in Your Currency
When you subscribe, the exact amount is recorded against your subscription in your own currency, and that recorded amount is what renews. A later catalogue price change does not follow you. See Renewals and Auto-Renew.
The panel says this in two places: "Your rates are locked from signup" on the Billing overview, and "Your price is locked and renews at this rate" on the subscription detail page.
Refunds are issued in the same currency you paid in, back to the same payment method.
Troubleshooting
My account is in the wrong currency and I have not paid yet. Set it before you buy. If the panel is not offering the control, contact support before checking out rather than after.
I have an active subscription in the wrong currency. Contact support. A change requires the account to have no live subscription.
My yen invoice looks a hundred times too small. Yen and won have no decimal places. The figure is already whole units.
The price changed when I switched the site language. Displayed prices follow the currency you are viewing in on public pages. Your account's billing currency, and the amount you are actually charged, do not change with a language switch.
I want to pay in a currency that is not on the list. Only these eleven exist. Pick the closest and let your bank handle the conversion, or ask support what is planned.
My bank charged a conversion fee. That is between you and your bank. Choosing a currency your card is denominated in usually avoids it, which is another reason to get the currency right before your first charge.
