Bulk Domain Search

Bulk search checks a whole list of domain names at once and puts everything available into your cart in a single action, which beats searching fifty names one at a time when you are choosing a brand or sweeping up defensive registrations.

Paste your list, watch each line check itself as you go, then add the available ones to the cart together. Nothing is registered until you complete checkout.

Opening Bulk Search

Sign in to KPanel and click Domains in the left sidebar.
Click Bulk search in the header.

The page describes itself: "Paste your list once. Every name checks itself as you go, then everything available goes to the cart in one go." It works in two steps, Add your names and Review and add.

Adding to the cart requires domain write permission on the account. Anyone can search.

Building Your List

The left panel is headed Your list: "One domain per line. Paste a whole list, type names in, or add rows one at a time."

You have three ways to get names in:

Paste a list into the box. Names can be separated by new lines, commas, semicolons or spaces.
Type them in directly, one per line.
Upload CSV to load a file. It is read as plain text into the box, so a single-column file works best.

There is also a single add row at the bottom with an Add row button, for adding one more name after you have pasted everything else.

The list is cleaned up as it is parsed: everything is lowercased, unusable characters are stripped, leading and trailing dots are trimmed, and duplicates are removed. So a messy paste out of a spreadsheet or an email usually just works.

Bulk search checks up to 50 names at a time. Paste more and the extras are trimmed, with a note telling you that live checking covers the first 50. For a longer list, work in batches of 50. The limit exists so a very large paste does not turn into a flood of registry queries.

Bare Names Versus Full Domains

How you write a line decides what gets checked.

A bare name such as myshop is checked against the common extensions and the leading result is shown. This is the mode to use when you are still choosing an extension.

A full domain such as myshop.co.nz is checked as exactly that name and nothing else. This is the mode to use when you know what you want, and it is the right way to build a list that mixes extensions.

If you are protecting a brand, write the full domains out. A list of mybrand.co.nz, mybrand.nz, mybrand.com and mybrand.net gives you an exact answer for each one, where four copies of the bare name would just check the same thing four times.

Reading the Results

Each row appears in the results rail as it is checked, showing the name and a status pill:

Available	Registrable now
Taken	Already registered by somebody
Quote only	A premium name that needs manual pricing before it can be sold
Not checked	The lookup did not complete. Remove the row and re-add it

Available names show a per-year price in your account's currency. A small number show "Pricing shown at checkout" instead, where an instant price is not available for that extension.

The rail header keeps a running count: "Results: {available} of {total} available". Each row also has a remove control if you want to drop a name before adding the rest to the cart.

Prices and GST

Prices shown are exclusive of GST, in your account's currency. If your account currency is NZD, the summary carries the caption "15% GST is added at checkout." and the GST is added to the total on the payment screen. If your account currency is anything else, no GST applies and no caption appears.

The summary band above the button shows how many names are available and the first-year total for all of them, so you know the size of the commitment before you go anywhere near checkout.

Adding Everything to the Cart

When you are happy with the list, click Add all {n} to cart.

Names are added individually and each result is reported back, so a single failure does not silently disappear. If some could not be added you get a list headed "Some domains couldn't be added:" with the reason for each. Everything that did add stays in the cart.

On success you are taken to checkout, where you can review the order, adjust registration length and pay. Nothing is registered until that payment completes.

Names marked Quote only, and any name we cannot price instantly, are not included in the bulk add. The summary tells you how many were excluded. Premium names are genuinely purchasable, they just need a quote first, so search for those individually from the normal domain search and follow the quote flow.

Exporting the Results

The Export CSV control downloads what you have checked as kapsule-bulk-search.csv, with columns for the domain, whether it is available, the price, the renewal price and the currency.

This is worth doing before you buy anything. Send the file to whoever is making the decision, keep it as a record of what was and was not available on the day, and use it to plan a phased set of registrations rather than buying everything at once.

Registering, WHOIS Privacy and Auto-Renew

Domains added through bulk search are registered with WHOIS privacy on, which is free on every domain that supports it. Privacy is not available on .nz domains, because the .nz registry does not offer it: see .nz Domain Rules.

After registration, check the auto-renew setting on each new domain. Defensive registrations are exactly the domains people forget to renew, and losing one defeats the point of having bought it. See Domain Renewal, Expiry and Recovery.

Each newly registered domain arrives with a working DNS zone on our four nameservers, seeded with web and mail records. If you want a spare domain to redirect to your main site rather than sit idle, that takes about a minute: see Subdomains and Parked Domains.

Troubleshooting

A row is stuck on Checking. Remove it and add it again. If it comes back as Not checked, the registry lookup failed rather than returning an answer, which is usually transient.

Some names disappeared from my paste. Duplicates are removed automatically, and anything past the 50-name limit is trimmed with a note. Check the count under the box against what you pasted.

A name shows as available here but the cart refuses it. That happens with names we cannot price instantly, which the bulk add deliberately excludes. Search for it individually to see the pricing or quote route.

The add-to-cart button is greyed out. Either nothing addable is in the list, or your role does not include domain write permission on the account.

The prices look different from the domain search page. Both show ex-GST prices in your account currency. If they genuinely differ, take a screenshot of both and open a support ticket.

I want to check more than 50 names. Do it in batches, exporting the CSV after each one so you keep a combined record.
