Getting Started

Kora Settings

Kora has one setting of its own, the language it replies in, and this guide covers where it lives, how auto-detect behaves, and how the setting relates to the language of KPanel itself.

Where Kora's Settings Live

  1. Sign in to KPanel.
  2. Click Settings in the left sidebar.
  3. Open the Kora AI tab.

The direct address is /settings/kora.

The page holds a single card, Kora language, with the reply-language options. There is nothing to save: choosing an option writes it immediately and a Saved confirmation appears next to the card heading.

Auto-Detect Is the Default

The first option is Auto-detect from message, and it is what every account starts on. With auto-detect selected, Kora reads the language of each message you send and replies in that language. Write to it in Spanish and the answer comes back in Spanish; switch to English mid-conversation and the next reply follows you.

Leave auto-detect on unless you have a specific reason not to. It is the only setting that handles a bilingual team correctly, because it follows the person typing rather than a stored preference on the account.

Choosing a Fixed Language

Select any language in the list to pin Kora to it. From then on Kora answers in that language regardless of what language you typed in. This is useful when:

  • You are more comfortable reading a language you do not type quickly in.
  • You are pasting error messages or log output in English but want the explanation in your own language.
  • Your team shares an account and you want every Kora answer in one consistent language.

Switching back to auto-detect at any time restores the follow-the-message behaviour.

The Supported Languages

Kora replies in the following, plus auto-detect:

EnglishTe Reo MāoriEspañol
Português (Brasil)Português (Portugal)Français
DeutschItalianoNederlands
PolskiРусский日本語
中文(简体)Bahasa Indonesia

Each language is listed in its own script, which is the universal convention for a language picker: you should be able to find your language without already reading the interface language.

Te Reo Māori Is in Beta

Selecting Te Reo Māori shows a beta notice, in Te Reo and then in English. The short version: the Māori translation is auto-generated, and expert review by Te Hiku Media and Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Māori is in progress before a full production launch.

Because the Māori translation is not yet expert-reviewed, treat a Te Reo answer about anything consequential (billing, a destructive action, a DNS change) as a draft and confirm the meaning in English before you act on it. The typed confirmation phrases for destructive actions are also auto-translated in Te Reo.

What This Setting Does Not Change

This is the part people get wrong most often. The Kora language setting governs what language Kora writes its answers in, and nothing else.

It does not change:

  • The language of KPanel itself. That is a separate setting under Settings, then Profile, then Language, described as the language for your control panel and every email we send you.
  • The language of the emails Kapsule sends you. Same setting as above.
  • Your billing currency. Currency is chosen once at signup and is locked separately from language.
  • The content of this help centre. Atlas serves the reader's own locale independently.

You can perfectly reasonably run KPanel in English and have Kora reply in Japanese, or the reverse.

Where Kora Actually Appears

Kora is not a page. It is the floating panel available from every KPanel screen, so the language setting applies wherever you open it. Visiting /kora directly simply opens that panel and returns you to your dashboard.

The one Kora screen that is a real page is the conversation history at /kora/history, covered in Reviewing and Erasing Kora's Memory.

Message Limits

There is no daily message limit on Kora. A short anti-spam guard limits how many messages one account can send in a single minute, which normal use never reaches.

Kora does apply a separate daily cap on actions, meaning changes it makes to your account rather than questions you ask it. That cap and the confirmation model behind it are covered in Kora Actions and Approvals.

What If It Fails

The setting will not stick. The radio saves on click and shows Saved for a couple of seconds. If it snaps back, reload the page: an unsaved state means the request did not reach the server, not that the setting was rejected.

Kora keeps replying in the wrong language. Check whether a fixed language is selected. Auto-detect follows your message; a pinned language ignores it. If auto-detect is on and Kora still picks the wrong language, your message was probably too short to detect reliably. One full sentence is usually enough.

Kora answers in a language that is not on the list. Kora answers in the language you set or detected. If you get an unexpected language on a fixed setting, open a support ticket with the conversation date so it can be traced.

A confirmation phrase does not match. Destructive actions ask you to type a phrase back exactly, and that phrase is shown in your Kora language. Copy it from Kora's message rather than typing it from memory, particularly in a language that uses macrons or diacritics.
