Three capabilities arrive on the managed tiers and two more only on the top one. That is the whole difference in capability, and it is worth reading before you decide, because the capacity does not move in the same direction.

BEFORE YOU DECIDE

Four fair questions, answered against the matrix above.

Each answer carries its concession, because the concession is what tells you the rest is true.

Why would I pay more for managed when the cheap plan already has staging and backups?

Because of five named things and nothing else. A full page cache, malware quarantine and automatic rollback on a push arrive on both managed tiers, and two factor on wp-admin plus response time monitoring arrive only on the top one. If none of those five matters to you, the shared plan is genuinely the better buy.

The concession: those five are the entire capability difference. There is no sixth thing being held back.
Do the managed plans give me more room?

No, and you should see that in the matrix rather than find it out later. Managed WP Start carries exactly the capacity of WordPress Start, and the top shared plan carries more sites, more storage and more transfer than the top managed one. Managed buys operation, not room.

The concession: if what you need is room for more sites, the shared tier is the one to buy, and we would rather say so here than after you have paid.
Is the security really the same on the cheap plan?

Yes. Vulnerability scanning, login hardening and checkout monitoring are on all four, and you can prove it by switching the matrix to the differences and watching those three rows disappear.

The concession: the two managed tiers do add malware quarantine, which is a security capability. Everything else in that group is identical on all four.
I already run WordPress somewhere else.
